Ratha Yatra Puri

The spectacular Rathyatra or Chariot festival at Puri which attracts thousands of Pilgrims every year, is truly the festival of Faith and harmony. The Grand procession of the deities marks the annual sojourn of patron Gods Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra & sister Subhadra. Huge wooden chariots are built for this occasion and physically pulled through the grand road by thousand of devotees.

However 2015 promises to be a mega event for the renewal of bodies of the Idols. This year the festival is expecting the gathering of three million pilgrims. Heritage tours welcome the travelers to this incredible festival for an unique experience with full of spirituality.

Day1 – 15th july: Bhubaneswar – Puri

Arrival at Bhubaneswar railway station/airport, meet our representative and transfer to Puri. Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Odisha and home to several ancient temples. Enjoy the Heritage walk through the old city to explore the ancient temples. Further drive to Heerapur village to visit the unique Yogini temple. Proceed to Raghurajpur craft village to meet the artist and painter and their fascinating art form. Enjoy the folk dance in this village and transfer to Puri for the night stay in a beach front hotel.

Day2 – 16th July: Puri

Puri is one of the most holy place in india. Explore this sacred city by our Greenrider rickshaw team, covering the medieval by lanes, ancient water tanks, cremation place, living beach market, small shrines and the majestic views of the jagannath temple.

Day3 – 17th July: Puri

Wake up in the morning and enjoy the leisurely walk along the beach of Puri. In the afternoon walk to the grand road to witness the final preparation as completed chariots are positioned in front of the temple and covered with bright applique canopies. Then visit the various monasteries to see the pilgrim activities. Back to the hotel and enjoy the typical dinner.

Day4 – 18th July: Puri

Today witness the colourful Rath yatra festival on the grand road. Thousands, thousands pilgrims from Different part of India and abroad congregate here to witness Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra in their brand new form. You will jostle among the crowds to feel the spirit of the devotees. then you will be seating on a roof top to safely observe the colourful celebration.

Day5 – 19th July: Puri

After this wonderful experience from yesterday event, free morning to relax. If desire take an ayurvedic massage from an expert. Afternoon excursion to Konark to behold the UNESCO World heritage Sun temple. Wait for the illumination in the early evening and witness the superb stone art of this majestic temple. Drive back to Puri and overnight stay. Enjoy the dinner in a garden restaurant.

Day6 – 20th July: Departure

Morning check out at 8 a.m and transfer to airport/railway station for your onward destination.
